EDWI Summer Picnic and Croquet

As it finally feels like we can pack away our winter woollies and embrace the summer, we are delighted that for our next meeting, on Wednesday 6th June, we shall be returning to Dulwich Croquet Club near Herne Hill Station for an evening of Croquet and a Picnic. Anyone who has attended one of our croquet nights before will know how fun they are. It’s a great way to learn how to play or hone your skills, depending on your level of croquet expertise. But on top of that, it’s a really sociable evening when you can get to know other EDWI members in your team and then make the most of (fingers crossed!) a wonderful summer evening by sharing a picnic with everybody. Drinks can be bought (at very reasonable prices) at the bar.
Location and Start Time
Dulwich Croquet Club is located at Dulwich Sports Club, Giant Arches Road, London, SE24 9HB, between Herne Hill and Dulwich Village. We’re meeting at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. For those of you that can, it would be really helpful if you could get there as close to 7 o’clock as possible so we can start teeing you off quickly, but if you can’t arrive til 7.30pm, don’t worry, that’s absolutely fine. It just means there will be less waiting time for everyone if we can stagger the start.
See the above map for the location of Dulwich Sports Club together with the nearest train stations and bus stop. The 37 bus runs from East Dulwich to Herne Hill in around 10 minutes. Listen out for Ruskin Walk stop which is the closest one to the club.
What to Bring
Sharing food for the picnic – please bring along some finger food for sharing with everyone. Whether it’s tasty homemade cakes and sandwiches, or shop-bought crisps and sausage rolls, everything will be warmly accepted! Please note there will be no plates or cutlery provided, but please feel free to bring your own.
Flat Shoes – for the croquet lawn
Pocket Money – for the Raffle and Bar
Umbrella/Waterproof Jacket – just in case it rains!
Blanket – to sit on if anyone wants to sit on the grass in true picnic style, but there are also outside tables and chairs we can use.
