What We Are

“More Than Jam and Jerusalem”

We are a friendly group of local women of all ages and backgrounds who get together each month to meet and make friends, share some skills and learn something new.

We have a great programme of events ranging from guest speakers, craft and events, outdoor activities and entertainment. You can find details of our current, forthcoming and past events on Our Events page.

We meet on the second Wednesday of each month. Our regular venue is The Castle on Crystal Palace Road in East Dulwich. You should arrive from for our meetings from 7.30pm, we start at 8.00pm. We generally finish at around 9.30pm. Keep an eye out on each event listing however as we do sometimes go out and about in the local area.

How it Started

The East Dulwich WI was set up in July 2007 by Katie Arnold having posted a message on the East Dulwich Forum asking if any local ladies were interested in getting together to share their interests. Shortly after a meeting was held at Green & Blue and the first WI in the area was formed.

How We’re Run

We have a committee that consists of members. The committee meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month to plan and organise the annual calendar of events with consultation of members.

How to Join

We are open for new members! The annual subscription fee for the year from April 2023 to March 2024 is £46.00. New potential members are welcome to come as guest for up to three times. The first guest visit is free, after that there is a visitor charge of £5.00.

Please see our How to Join page for full details but suffice it to say you are welcome to come along to any of our events. If you don’t want to commit to joining straight away, you can come along as a guest and see what we are all about.

What Else We Do

We have a thriving and diverse Bookclub and we are planning on developing our craft club events for 2024.

Our clubs are a great way to get to know a smaller group of members and occasionally we do allow non-members to join us. We can’t promise that we won’t conduct a marketing campaign to persuade you to join however!

We support the WI Campaigns which are nominated and voted on by members. Details of our campaign activities can be found here.

We also support Southwark Foodbank by collecting donations at our meetings.
