Decoupage Tealight Holders Workshop

3 October 2018 – 7.30pm

Upstairs at The East Dulwich Tavern

We know how much you all love a bit of crafting so we’re very excited about next week’s meeting. We are lucky enough to have local artist and maker Gabriela Szulman coming along to show us how to upcycle a glass tea-light holder using decoupage – just like the beautiful ones pictured above.

Gabriela works in mixed media, decoupage and collage, using these techniques to create pictures, greeting cards, jewellery and decorative objects.  Creative inspiration comes from her growing archive of ephemera, which includes photos, vintage documents, maps, her grandmother’s fashion magazines, books, cards, knitting pattern books and scraps of writing.  Alongside her own work, she is passionate about inspiring other people and sharing her skills, so she devotes a portion of her time to teaching creative techniques at her studio and elsewhere. You can see the whole range of Gabriela’s classes here.

She will also offer us the opportunity to book places in several of her upcoming classes at a special discount, so bring your diaries to take full advantage of this.

Gabriela will also be bringing a selection of cards, prints and decorative objects which will be available to buy during the evening.

This is going to be a very popular event so we recommend arriving at 7pm for a 7.30pm start to ensure that you get a place. You are welcome to bring a guest along on the night – see our How to Join for more details.

What to Bring

Money – we will have two fabulous raffle prizes to win next week. One of Gabriela’s exclusive prints (see picture above, bottom left) plus a great book, House of Cards, which showcases some amazing local artists (including Gabriela) with step-by-step tips on making your own clever cards. So make sure you don’t miss out – bring your purse so you can pick up some of Gabriela’s tempting items and buy some raffle tickets. The raffle is an important fundraising initiative for us to fund our events – every ticket you buy really helps.

A Friend – you’re welcome to bring along a friend. They just need to pay a guest fee of £3 plus £5 for materials on the night. Please note that members will be given priority if the event is full. Therefore, any guest who is likely to attend another of our events this year may want to consider joining as a part-year member for £10.50 to guarantee a place on the night – no guest fee would then be payable. Cheap at half the price!
